Verizon Senior Purchasing Analyst in Basking Ridge, New Jersey

What you’ll be doing...

  • Understand Network vendors' product catalog and translate their equipment offerings into the level of detail required for VZW Quotes, Purchase Orders, Receipts, Packing Lists and Invoices.

  • Exercise understanding of Network vendors' quoting and ordering systems to determine solutions that fulfill VZ’s requirements for detailed Item information to support physical inventory/tracking.

  • Update and maintain Network PeopleSoft Item Master.

  • Determine appropriate coding (e.g. financial coding) and attributes for all new and updated Items within the Network PeopleSoft Item Master. Review of items added, and that items attributes are in agreement with network and corporate policies - Procurement (GCP 085) and Network CPS-103.

  • Input and review of new and updated Items with Network Engineering, Network Finance, Fixed Asset Accounting, Network Inventory, Asset Management and the Tax organizations.

  • Ensure all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met with the Network and Sourcing end user communities. Support continuing to have less than a 5 day turn-around time for new item creation requests. Support less than 24 hour turn-around time on direct Sourcing requests from the Category Sourcing Experts and Sourcing Managers.

  • Support Procurement initiatives to restrict vendor/item use and vendor/item sourcing efforts.

  • Provide end user support and troubleshoot issues related to PeopleSoft Item & Purchasing Kit inquiries.

  • Interact with ERP IT Support/Development Team in order analyze system issues and resolve system problems.

  • Perform detailed testing on new system enhancements and "bug" fixes.

  • Provide ongoing training to the end user community on all aspects of Item Master maintenance (creation, modification, appropriate assignment of financial coding).

  • Understand kit table and creation of kits in PeopleSoft. Educate buyer community on purchasing kits created to facilitate Purchase Order creation (e.g. in support of vendor "Quote to Cash" programs).

  • Test and pilot joint initiatives and solutions with Network vendors for Item creation and maintenance. Receive and process in a timely fashion regular Item maintenance files from top e-Quote Network vendors.

  • Manage the e-Items process. Work with e-Item Vendor's to ensure smooth workflow of e-Items into PeopleSoft. Review e-Quote error report, manage the e-Item workbench, update, maintain and trouble shoot any e-Item issues when required. Including running validation and manual set up when necessary.

  • Develop, communicate and support business Processes and Directives as they relate to Item creation and maintenance.

  • Engage in special projects that have a direct impact on improving system performance or business processes. Participation in such projects would include defining business requirements, generating test conditions, conducting system testing and documenting new processes/procedures.

  • Provide user community and management with key status reports. Run weekly report of newly added Items and perform quality audit to ensure accuracy of attribute assignment and make any adjustments in a timely manner.

  • Support Capital Equipment Procurement and Contract Compliance initiatives. Manage and administer monthly and quarterly reporting as identified by management.

  • Administer expand/collapse process. Hold monthly meetings and vet out appropriate classification for item audits.

  • Drive buyer community and others to use department mailbox for any inquiries and manage mailbox to meet expectations.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Two or more years of wireless telecommunications experience.

  • Previous application support experience.

  • Previous Network engineering and/or financial accounting experience.

  • Previous experience in supporting web based applications.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree

  • Familiarity with Network Telecommunication vendor equipment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in database packages and software utilities.

  • Detail oriented work ethic.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in a purchasing or asset management discipline.

  • Ability to work both independently and collectively with other reference and support team members.

  • Good project management skills.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time in a very dynamic work environment.

  • Strong knowledge of procure-to-pay lifecycle.

  • Strong knowledge of Asset Profile and Account code reference data.
